Best Unpopular Special Forces

Special Forces are the best of the best. They are soldiers who are way more than soldiers; they must know not only the way to fight, but how to win hearts and minds and generate goodwill towards their countries. Special Forces training is the toughest course the Army offers, such that only those ranked Sergeant and above are able to even apply.

Srilanka

The special forces of Sri Lanka is part of the Sri Lanka army and is known as the Sri Lanka Army Special Forces Regiment or SF. They are a covert operative force comprised of five regiments.

Serbia

Serbia Special Forces also known as the Special Brigade are a division of the Serbian Land Forces. They are the most elite special forces unit and consist of of exploration units and paratroopers. They are a relatively new special forces group with a headquarters and most of the units situated at Pancevo.

Singapore

The Singapore Special Operations Force, the SOF, is part of the Commandos arm of the Singapore army and consists of highly trained persons who participate in special forces operations. Singapore special forces are trained to deal with strategic special operations, hostage taking and counter terrorism.

They are a division of the Army and the number of those in the ranks is classified information.

Sweden

Sweden has two special forces teams- the Special Protection Group, SSG and the Special Reconnaissance Group SIG. Both units report to the ministry of defense and are under the direct command of the Supreme Commander of the Swedish Armed Forces. There are plans underway to merge the SSG and the SIG into a single unit by 2011.

Army became more active during the years of the Cold War, at which time service in the military became mandatory. The Swedish Army serves the people of Sweden and also all over the world. Recently, the SPG was deployed to Afghanistan to support the ISAF, a NATO group. The SSG and the SIG were both deployed to Chad, as part of Sweden's contribution of marines to EUFOR.

Thailand

The Thailand Special Forces are called the Royal Thai Navy SEALs and they are part of the military of Thailand. They are comprised of 144 men and are part of the Royal Thai Navy.
The Royal Thai Navy SEALs were set up in 1956 by the government of the United States, presumably in response to the Cold War. They train with the US Navy SEALs and although a small Special Forces unit, are considered formidable.
