Military Robots- Robotic Warfare

As man continues to search for answers so will the improvement of robots and other machineries. After all, mankind believes in achieving the impossible.

The use of robots in warfare has sparked some debate among those who view robotic warfare as less expensive and practical as against humanists who claim that robots are not capable of making ethical warfare decision. One of this is whether or not to use brute force, or if these robots can be made capable of observing codes of conduct, honor and ethics amidst the violence, loss of life and other damage brought upon by wars.

Detractors are saying that robots cannot differentiate whether the situation calls for using lethal tactics or not. This is why some experts on robotics and software development have come up with an idea to program this robots to have some degree of "guilt' during war time.

As of this present time, software engineers are working on a program that will teach robots how to observe rules of engagement during a combatant warfare. There is a lot of research going if the robot can perform and execute actions unmanned. the journey is still rough but experts are doing their level best.

Also, they are seeking ways for which drones or combatant robots will be able to recognize existing laws and international rules. If successful, the rate of non-combatant casualties will be lessened. However, this is still being studied by robotics experts.

Such act has been highly criticized by some roboticist. They claim that making robots understand human emotion and the world in general has been a decades-long problem. Although most of them acknowledge that the use of automated machines in future combats is inevitable, they push for further studies of how to improve the performance of automated robots.

While maintaining that robots are not likely to seek revenge and do not get angry, robots do not have mercy or sympathy as well. Robots do not understand human nature or the reason why wars are fought. They function to every order given to them and they only act upon specific programs that were installed into their memory or processor.

It can be said the robotics has its first and most useful application in space and military application. The technology has made it easier for people to develop robots in the warfare world. The only drawback is that these robots must be controlled by people even when they’re in combat or war but they’re good as they can do what is impossible or risky for human involvement.
