Traveling at the speed of internet - 4G Technology

Technology can evolve faster than you can blink your eyes and it might seem difficult to keep track. Together with the new development of technology comes new words and phrases which can create a language barrier. Surely you have seen or heard about the term 4G. This simply stands for fourth generation of mobile network and the LTE that is mostly found at the end stands for long term evolution, which is the category of 4G technology.

4G Explained

As technology evolves and improves they try to provide a non-backward harmonious technology so it will be of better quality, even in the worst case scenario.

Earlier generations of wireless mobile telecommunication technology ran on different circuit-switched telephony and is not supported by the new 4G systems. The 4G candidate systems was upgraded by adopting OFDMA multi-carrier transmission and FDE (frequency-domain equalization) schemes. This allows you to transfer very high bit rates despite multi-path radio broadcast. Additionally the high bit rate was enhanced by smart antenna arrays for MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) communications.

4G uses OFDM (orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing) instead of TDMA (time division multiple access) like 3G did. This means that the OFDM is a digital modulation which separates the signal into numerous narrowband channels that run at different frequencies where the TDMA splits the channel into time periods and has multiple users take turns. It’s needless to say that the OFDM is more effective than the TDMA.

4G networks meet standard requirements named IMT-advanced (International mobile telecommunications advanced) with peak speeds of 100 Mbps (megabits per second) for high mobility communication and 1Gbps (gigabit per second) for low mobility communication. Please note that this is the optimal rate it can operate at and should not be expected to operate at this speed constantly. There will always be factors that play a role in the speed it operates as, like coverage of signal for example.

In order for you to take advantage of the improved telecommunication technology you will need a handset with a modem that supports the new frequencies because the 4G networks uses different network frequencies to transmit data.

Advantages

What is the advantage for me? Faster internet, the 4G network allows users to exchange data at 100Mbps where 3G can offer data exchange of 3.8 Mbps. 4G also offers better coverage even in the outer lined areas that are not easily found on the map. This includes country side areas where there previously was no coverage. This means that you can be more mobile with your wireless mobile telecommunication technology.

To conclude this article about 4G technology it is clear that the only constant is change. Faster internet means saving time, less stress and irritation waiting for a page to load. It gives you freedom to go to places off the map with the potential to have access to exchange data there with the increased coverage enhancements of geographical areas. 4G LTE ultimately offer users trustworthy and faster broadband data for all their devices.

The Three Most Popular Smartphones Right Now and How to Choose Which One to Buy

Finding the right phone can be difficult. From understanding the words used to describe features of the phone like microns and RAM to being eager not to waste money on disappointment, it can be a task to find the perfect one. To try and make this easier, here's a list of things to look out for and a few good suggestions.

Buying Tips

  • If you're addicted to apps and like your software updated frequently it's a good idea to choose an iPhone.
  • Alternatively, if you want more options for hardware and design, and want more control as a user then Android phones are for you.
  • If you simply enjoy to read on your phone and talk with people and other things that can only take one hand, try a phone with a 5 inch screen or smaller.
  • If you're a video junkie and love your app games, then a phone bigger than that is a good idea.
  • Now here for the complicated part, cameras. If you want to make sure you can take the best selfie and holiday pics, then the more microns the better and the smaller number for aperature the better the camera will be. Megapixels can be ignored.
  • To make sure that your phone will run fast, be sure that it has either Snapdragon 820 or 821 and 4GB of RAM if you're going to be using it for demanding things.
  • For iPhone users, the A9 or A10 chip in the iPhone 6 or 6 plus will work just as speedily.

Smartphones

Considering the tips above, these phones are either trending due to their popularity or are generally seen as worth purchasing. Each of them have different advantages and disadvantages which can be compared against other phones in order to find the right one for you.

Google Pixel

The Google Pixel is a phone that has been most anticipated by people. It has an attractive design and a fast performance making it desirable instantly. It, of course, has unique Google features that other phones do not possess and has a long battery life making it a good choice for those constantly away from their chargers. It also has a good quality camera which is the most important feature of a smartphone.

The Google Pixel does come with some disadvantages, however. Unlike many smartphones these days, it is not water resistant meaning that you're in trouble if you drop it in the bath. It's also quite expensive. The Google Assistance on the phone is not perfect yet and the back glass of the phone is prone to scratches making it unsightly.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is for those who want the most striking phone available. It has a curved screen making it quite unique. Along with this attractive design it also has solid performance and a good camera for all the pictures taken throughout the day. Unlike the Google Pixel, the phone is waterproof and so you'll have peace of mind in a rainy day.

Its drawbacks are the pre-installed software that doesn't add much to the phone. The back glass, like the Google Pixel, can leave fingerprints and impressions which can be frustrating. The only model available is the 32GB and so users are limited. The edge screen software is also not as helpful as Samsung possibly intended.

Oneplus 3T

The OnePlus 3T is good if you're looking for a promising smartphone for good value. This phone won't break the bank for what it is offering. It has very responsive software which is pleasing for any user and a long battery life so it won't die on you. It also has a strong rear camera, not as helpful for selfies but will produce a fantastic image to remember a moment by.

Its weaknesses are the low screen brightness which may have you struggling to see certain details in different lights. The lack of waterproofing, much like the Google Pixel. And finally the questionable frequency of which the software is updated.

Whatever phone you choose to purchase, ensure that you have checked out the quality of the camera, the speed of which it's predicted to run, the size and it's storage space. Make sure to find the phone for you.
