Unbeatable speed - Supercomputer

In this modern world of technology and competition it is an important requirement that every work is done in time. Speed is everyone’s requirement these days, we all want our requests to be completed effectively and in time. Computer has eliminated human effort in almost every field of life, increased accuracy of work, lesser time required is one of the best positives of a computer. One of the most important requirement these days is increased speeds of processing. Supercomputers are the solution to this requirement, it is a type of computer which is known for its high level of computer processing which is more than the general purpose computers. Its speed is measured in FLOPS which stands for floating operation per second. A Supercomputer can perform quadrillions of floating point operations per second. It is used in scientific areas where advanced calculations are required.

History of Supercomputers

Since the evolution of computers various efforts are always made so that it can be made better than before. The history of supercomputers date back to 20th century, they were introduced in 1960s by Seymour Cray at control data corporation. Till then many supercomputers used less number of processors but by the end of 20th century various computers with massive parallel processors came into existence which changed the meaning of supercomputers completely. Supercomputers play an important role in the field of research and technology, it is used in various fields like quantum mechanics, weather forecasting, climate researches, macromolecular modelling and much more.

Working

A Supercomputer's approach towards solving a problem is quite unique. There are two possible ways for any Supercomputer to function. Either it works in packets which means small tasks are assigned to small processors and then those tasks are submitted to a centralized server. Other approach is much more like a computer mesh when all processors are collectively involved in solving a problem rather than specifying small tasks to each processor. These days multi-core processors combined with centralization of computers are quite popular.

Supercomputer is an example of the capabilities of a human mind. Computers have helped us throughout the course of history for carrying out complex calculations, researches both accurately and effectively. Supercomputers play an important role in various scientific fields where even more complex calculations are need to be processed accurately and in lesser time. Various new technologies have helped in enhancing their performance, accuracy and efficiency. Supercomputing is a revolution in the technology arena and its scope has increased lately. Since their invention supercomputers have undergone various remodeling phases which included both better hardware and software architecture. Since a human mind is a unique creation, it can be inarguably said the future of technology is quite.

Tips On Buying Desktop Computer

In recent years, the demand for desktop computers has declined primarily because of the growth of the laptop market. While laptops are preferred by most people because of its aesthetics, portability and utility for emergencies, desktop computers still outmatch laptop computers when it comes to memory and performance.

The major advantage of a desktop computer is its seemed disadvantage: size. Because of a desktop computer's size, you get more of everything including more connection ports, more space and larger graphics card, bigger fans for cooling, among many others, while saving on a lot of money because desktop computers now are cheaper in cost.

There are few things to take into consideration in buying a desktop computer:

Know the OS (Operating System)

Whether your operating system is Windows, OS X, and Linux, each of these have their pros and cons. Windows is the most popular and most used operating system in the market. OS X is the operating system designed for Apple products. However, Microsoft and OS X can be used interchangeably depending on the compatibility of your desktop device. Linux programs, on the other hand, can be downloaded for free and is used as a wide alternative to Windows.

Check The Processor

The preferred processor is Intel Core i5-3 series because of its updates and good performance. You should be mindful of this because this is usually the most expensive part of the PC.

RAM (Radom Access Memory)

Most desktop computers have a memory space of 6 to 8 GB and a lack of this RAM will slow down your computer's memory. There are several memory spaces available and you should choose a minimum of 4 GB.

Check Connections And Ports

You should purchase a desktop which has connections to USB 3.0 and HDMI connection ports. Most computers have many slots for these.

Study The Different Brands

Before you make your purchase, get acquainted with computer products and its features by visiting the computer maker's website. You may also compare and contrast different products.

Know The Different Desktop Categories Depending On Your Need

There are three categories of desktop PCs depending on your needs: entry level, mid-range and high-end desktop computers. Entry level computers is cheap and can just do basic functions and activities such as internet browsing, sending emails, and using office productivity software such as Microsoft Office. Mid-range computers have a higher processing speed compared to an entry level PC and can do things like playing games and installing software but not heavy-function high-end programs such as editing and fast graphics processing.

If you need high performance desktop computers, you should purchase high-end computers, although they do not come in cheap. You can do video editing, playing more games and graphics designing.

While desktop computers are generally cheaper, it is still ideal to check on the quality of the product that you are going to purchase. In other cases, it might cause you more money if the product is defective or is missing some important accessories. What is important is to arm yourselves with information and ample knowledge when going to stores to purchase a desktop PC.

SSD VS HDD - WHAT TO PICK?

What kind of storage would you prefer If you are interested in buying a laptop or desktop? This is one of the most usual confusion that arise while buying a PC. What to choose : SSD or HDD? If you still find trouble, then here is a list of details you would like to know.

What is SSD and HDD?

Basically, they are both non-volatile devices that can store data even If your PC cycles between on and off state. SSD stores the data in the flash memory chips and therefore It can be retained even If there is no power. It does not have any actual disc or motor. The memory cells perform more or less like a MOSFET. It also has a great improvement in read function.

HDD store data in one or more rotating disc (platters). The platters are arranged with magnetic head which helps in reading and writing data. The HDD basically has four parts : track, cylinder, sector and platter. The track is a circular pattern on the disc on which information is recorded. But still, you will be perhaps more interested to know which is better. What are Its advantages and disadvantages? It is more better to evaluate them on the following properties.

Capacity and storage ability

If you intend to keep a lot of stuff in your PC, then you would be more happy with HDD . 500 GB is considered to be Its base. This also helps in booting in less than a minute while SSD takes less than 20 seconds. The only factor that restricts the use of SSD when It comes to capacity is Its cost. Its cost is more than the counterpart, but off course quality come up with cost.

Reliability

SSD are more reliable than HDD. The external influences may influence the HDD structure resulting in a data loss. Here, I would bet for SSD as the flash memory is not much affected by external factors. Noise level is also low for SSD unlike HDD.

Budget and availability

If you would like to keep your budget low, then HDD are more preferable. Also , they are more available in the market. This is most important advantage of HDD over SSD.

Speed

When It comes to speed and ease, again SSD has preference over HDD and is also quite easy to handle.

Power supply

SSD often needs to be boosted as It draws less power whereas HDD uses more battery . HDD draws 6-8 watts, so It is preferable.

Finally, which is better? Come on, Its completely up to your needs. But still, I would give more recommendation to SSD as It beats Its counterpart in almost all the cases other than price. So before going for your PC, It is better to have a round check. To put It simply, HDD are preferable more to average customers whereas SSD finds Its relevance more in higher functions.

How to make a 3D computer game

Designing a Computer game

It does not matter whether you are looking for a career in game development industry or just want to get deep to the mind of game developers, it is good to know that the whole process is much complicated than it appears. If you are the type of person who can create great universes from the depths of their enchanted minds, then this is an opportunity for you.

You will have numerous options to work with if you possess some knowledge of programming. These skills and the knowledge will make the entire process of game design approachable since you will be able to use concepts like perfect imbalance, gamification, the uncanny valley, Skinner box and much more.

Using game engines has more benefits than programming the whole game yourself. With game engines, you will have the coding done for you so that you only focus on the layout, level, and content. In more complex games, the engines will ensure that lighting is done for you apart from memory management and asset loading. Game engines are cross-platform, and it will make the work appear so simplified.

Free Game Engines

A number of powerful game engines have been introduced to the public over the past few years. This has inspired the aspiring developers to create the games they have always had in their minds. Some of the most popular game engines are Unity, CRYENGINE  and Unreal Engine 4.

Unity game engine offers a wide array of easy to grasp features and other variety of assets that can be purchased or downloaded. Unity has different licensing packages like Free version and Pro version that goes for $35 or $125 per month.

Unreal Engine 4 just stopped charging $19 per month to being completely Free with zero subscription fees. CRYENGINE  on the hand has a bit different pricing model. You can get CRYENGINE for Free but you will have to pay $50 every month to access CRYENGINE training and other services.

(Note - Above pricing and licencing packages can be changed).

Popular games that have been designed by these popular engines are Far Cry and Crysis 3 by cryENGINE. Unity has created popular ones like Torment: Tides of Numenera, while Unreal Engine 4 brought Gears Of War 4.

Use your own 3d models

On usage, there are 3D modeling software's that can help especially if you choose to craft your 3D models without applying assets that have been already laid down. This software includes Blender(Free), Maya or 3DS Max.

When creating the game, ensure that you select a concept that you want to follow. Make sure you list down all the ideas you have for what your game will appear like.

The general appearance of the game, the core gameplay, and mood of the game should be well put down before you carry on.

If it is your first time to use the game making engines, then make you spend some reasonable period playing around with the tool. This you can only do by playing around with backgrounds, moving characters and objects. The core gameplay should be designed only if there is a need. This is because it can involve the creation of some complex systems especially to those using the tool for the first time.

For your first game, target a few level. You can create three to five short levels with an option of expanding them afterward. For a platformer, faster enemies or moving platforms are essential. A puzzle should use a single type of puzzle for the first time while an action game can introduce enemies or just one strong enemy.

Do not forget to set up the median and long time goals in your game. This may include, jumping or shooting and getting coins or such like advances.

Test carefully all the levels of your game and make sure everything is right. Use OpenGL to help you polish some graphics in your 3D computer game.

As soon as you ensure that all audio and visuals are up to your standards, then you can release your game. And that's how simple making a computer 3D game is. Best of luck as you try it.
